The Dog (and Cat) Days of Winter

I must say, 2011 is off to a very unimpressive start. Despite receiving this year's powerhouse 3-in-1 flu vaccine, I suffered through a terrible week of the flu. Sick days are not as fun when you are actually sick. Then Adam contracted the longest, most drawn-out, multi-symptom cold. He recovered just in time for emergency dental surgery to remove an impacted wisdom tooth. He has spent his recovery alternating between extra-strength Motrin, Vicodin, and Metroid (the game, not the medication). And let's not even talk about the weather. Since I receive all my power from the sun, I feel very vulnerable to defeat lately.

Behold the only photos we have celebrating this awesome new year. It's been slow.

I bought Pickles a bag of grass for Christmas. It's hard to tell if she appreciated her gift.

I would say this photo, below, is fairly representative of TJ's weekend mornings, or all mornings, really.

We have been celebrating the new year by living vicariously through our friends and family. Three weeks in, and already three new births. If that doesn't call for chocolate chip cookies, I don't know what does.

I know that this looks like one super Snuggie®, but it is actually two. One for you, and one to share. And, yes, it was my favorite Christmas gift.

Just waiting, waiting, waiting for the spring. All of us.
